The Startup Store announced today that it is proud to sponsor the McElhaney Pub Team in the Southeast Brain Tumor Foundation’s (SBTF) annual Race for Research. This sponsorship is dedicated to the memory of Phil McElhaney, the husband of Myra McElhaney, president of McElhaney & Associates and a client of The Startup Store.
SBTF, a 501c3 not-for-profit charitable foundation based in Atlanta, raises funds to support brain tumor research at major medical centers in the Southeast. The annual Race for Research has underwritten more than $1.2 million dollars in research grants in the past decade. For additional information visit www.sbtf.org.
“When I mentioned what I was doing to Jamie, he immediately stepped up to sponsor the team,” says Myra McElhaney. “This exemplifies his generous spirit and belief in giving back to the community.”
The McElhaney Pub team is named for the in-home pub that Phil McElhaney designed and built just prior to his diagnosis of a Stage 4 Glioblastomo Multiforma brain tumor in December 2007. Despite the grim diagnosis and cancer treatment the pub was the site of many parties and gatherings of friends between the time of its completion and Phil’s death 18 months later.
